End of Year Program for Staff and Faculty (2019-2020 academic year)

On Tuesday, 21st November 2020, Pegah High School held its annual end of year ceremony for teachers and staff, organized by the Office of Extracurricular Activities. In this ceremony, Ms. Katayoun Sultani, early childhood Dari teacher, and Mr. Talib Hussain Sahil, high school Dari teacher, were the announcers. The ceremony started with poetry recitation. Then Mr. Hafizullah Abram, the chairman of board of directors, took the stage. He talked about the impact of COVID-19 on Pegah’s program specially its financial challenges. He then thanked teachers, students, and parents for their support during the period. According to Mr. Abram although the lack of knowledge about online learning brought a lot of challenges, it has now become a great asset to students’ in-person learning. During his speech, Mr. Abram specially thanked Asifa Batoori, 12th grade student that during the lock-down had talked to some of her forgiener friends to raise money for Pegah. Mr. Abram mentioned that if all members of an organization view themselves as an effective individual rather than a consumer, they not only show their personal and intellectual maturity but also can easily help in solving the organization’s problems and nourishing effective programs. At last, he also thanked Eng. Mohammad Essa and Ahmad Sameer Kheradyar for their support in promoting Pegah’s online program for teaching mother-tongue.

Following Mr. Abram, Mr. Habibullah Maher, principle of main branch, thanked all teachers and administrative staff for their effort throughout the academic year. He also presented a summary of Pegah’s academic programs during 2019-2020 academic year. To make the audience laugh for some time, the announcer asked Ms. Hamida Faizi, Pashto teacher, to talk about some of her colleagues. Ms. Fiaiz recalled some of her fondest and funniest moments with any teacher whose picture popped up on the screen. Following her, Mr. Reza Rahiab, principle of Intermediate II, presented a summary of his master’s thesis titled, “Evaluating Pegah’s Value System using CIPP Model”. According to his analysis using Pegah’s current resources, educational approaches, teaching methods, and individual competency program, Pegah’s work has been to some extent above average.

After Mr. Rahiab, the Najibullah Sorosh, the director of Office of Extracurricular Activities introduced the video report that the office had made about teachers’ work during the lock-down. After the video screenin, Ms. Amena Qurbani, principle of Intermediate III, thanked from her colleagues and presented a summary of their work during the academic year in the new branch. Following her, Mr. Sorosh again came to the stage and distributed the certificate of staff whose agreement with Pegah had ended and thanked from Asifa Batoori for collecting financial support for the school. Mr. Sorosh added that in an age that a few number of students feel belonging to their schools, Asifa’s work not only shows her great soul but also is able to present a different image of Afghanistan, one free of war, violence, and insecurity to its foreign audience. He then ended his speech with giving Asifa’s appreciation letter. The program ended with Mr. Wais Hekmat’s poetry reading and taking group pictures.
